2022/2023 MID-SEASON REVIEW | Sserubiri Ivan’s first half of the season performance.

2022/2023 MID-SEASON REVIEW | Sserubiri Ivan’s first half of the season performance.

Sserubiri Ivan joined SC Villa in the 2022 summer transfer window on a free transfer after running down his contract at URA FC. The defensive midfielder spent 3 years at URA FC featuring in 55 games for the club before leaving for a new challenge at SC Villa, the most decorated football club in Ugandan history.

After 14 games this 2022/2023 season Sserubiri has started and feature in 12 games playing over 1000 minutes of football. He missed the other 2 games because of injury and suspension respectively.

Sserubiri featured for SC Villa in the centre back position earlier on in the season but was later moved back to his natural defensive midfield position as the season went on providing protection to the back four. SC Villa kept 9 clean sheets in the 12 games that Sserubiri was involved in.

Sserubiri has a limited attacking role in the team but he managed to get himself on the score sheet twice so far this season with a brilliant free kick on MD3 against Express FC and penalty against his former club URA FC on the last game of the first round.

Sserubiri and SC Villa finished 5th on the Uganda Premier League Table with 24 points after the first round of the 2022/2023 season.

Sserubiri featured in only 1 game at the FUFA Drum tournament for Buganda Province in the quarter final second-leg encounter with Acholi Province. Buganda Province lost 3-4 on aggregate.

Happy Holidays and all the best in the second half of the season Sserubiri!
